Sammy Davis, Jr. has played an extraordinary role in my life for well over 40 years, and although he died in 1990, he continues to do so. In all, he recorded 60 of my songs, a phenomenal number. After he died, I put together a tribute songbook of our 30-year collaboration, which wasn't really a collaboration at all, but simply the best kind of mutual admiration society, in which as friends we each happen to give the other something we needed and appreciated.
