It was Quincy Jones who suggested to me that we should do a show about Sammy's life. Only after Sammy died did the world start to put his lasting importance into perspective. Sammy's place in show business history equated to a large extent with Jackie Robinson's in baseball. And that, plus an attempt to capture the vast scope of Sammy's immense talents and an entertainer of infinite versatility, is what the show Sammy is about. It is not always a pretty story - Sammy's was not always a pretty life - but by God it is powerful! The show is presently planned to open in the U.S. in 2009.
